| BE NOT HASTY. / Be not haßty, O my brother, _ Curb awhile the angry tongue That would seek to wound another, Though he be, perchance, in wrong ! , All have erred, of every station — ; Thou canst not, my friend, be free ! ; Speaks it not in palliation, That our natures like agree ? ■ Hasty words, my friend, are often ' Spoken, that we ne'er forget, Tn the heat and flow of passion, Leaving years of sad regret ! Tossing us upon the billows Of an ever angry sea ; Giving unrest to our pillows, Where alone repose should be ! ' : Be not hasty, then, but spare him — So shalt thou his goodness prove ; Take him to thy heart and wear him ; : -In pure charity and love ! ■ Then his soften'd glance shall greet thee, And his hand be fixed in thine, , Firm, immoveable — to meet thee In a love supreme, divine !
