Nelson 28th. — In the polling for Superintendency — Curtis 445 ; Barnicoat 359. It is expected the returns from out districts will increase the majority for Curtis. 30th March, 1 p.m. At Driver McLean & Co.'s Wool Sales, yesterday, the attendance was numerous, and bidding spirited. Out of 220 bales catalogued, 160 were sold at prices quite equalling previous quotations. Greasy Fleece, lo£d to 12|d; washed Fleece, 17|d to 18d; washed lambs, 18d. Sheepskins in good demand, at Is 2d to Is Bd, middling sorts. At auction, Martell's case Brandy brought -25s 9d; Belmont Candles, Is 2d; Salad Oils, pints, 245 ; half-pints, 8s 3d ; Sardines, quarters, 6s 4£d. No mail yet ; weather wet.
