We are in receipt of newspapers from Tahiti up to the sth November last. On the 12th of September a fire burst ] out in the Hue Rivoli Papeete, in thei ..; house of M. Eouffio. The military and the fire companies were prompt in their attendance, and the fire was soon extin- . guished without much damage being .done. The Protectorate brigantine Sylyh (Tuatea, master), belonging to the firm of Brander, was lost on the 2nd of September, near the island of Teiroa, in bad weather. The crew were saved with some difficulty. . . ■ . An eclipse of the moon was observed at Papeete on the morning of the 24th of September last. , . The Messager de Taiti on the sth of Jfovember published a mail summary, or ' r J2dition pour Vexterieur. It is* announced that a similar edition will be /published monthly on the eve of the deJ. pagpufe of the mail for Europe. Prom tHese summaries the Tahitian text will as much a possible be excluded, '^he Government schools, under the management of the Sisters oi St. Joseph and the Brothers of Christian Doctrine, , were reopened on the Ist of October last.
