We have to record the public opening for traffic of the Bluff Harbor and Inver- j cargill Eailway. This event, however was not marked by any public demonstration on the part of the Government. The citizens, however determined to celebrate the event in a befitting manner, and accordingly a public banquet was held at the Southland Club, at which most of the leading merchants, bankers, squatters &c, were present The event was most successful, andin order to put our home readers in possession of full particulars, we publish the speeches of the different speakers in extenso in another column. »
