Public "Notices. PROSPECTUS OP THE SOUTHLAND SHIPPING & STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY, LIMITED. Capital, £5000. Provisional Committee: . Messrs John Ross, John M'Pherson, Jabez Hay, William Cochran, Invercargill ; Mr John Morton, Oaklandsj Mr Matthew Instone, Riverton, with power to add to their number. Bankers : The Bank of Otrgo (Limited). Solicitor : Mr James Harvey. Secretary and Treasurer, pro ternMr James Harvey. ~ Temporary Ofiices : Mr Harvey's Chambers, Esk-street, Invercargill. THE object of this Company is the establishment of Direct Steam Communication between this Port and Dnnedin, and Riverton ; also, to open upon a trade between the Ports of Sonthland and the important Goldfields upon the West Coast. • The proximity of this Province to those Goldfields, and the continuous and abundant supply of Produce and Merchandise this Province is in a position to furnish, the present irregular and uncertain mode of communication, all point to the desirability of a locally owned Steamer and other vessels. Country Settlers are specially interested in this undertaking ; they have oeen long debarred from competition in markets open to the Settlers of tbe other Provinces of New Zealand. It appears that not less than 150 tons of Merchandise per month have been imported into this Province from Dunedin, the freight upon which has been mostly earned by Vessels owned iv neighboring Provinces. Promises of support to a considerable amount being given by merchants, settlers, and tradesmen i of this Province, there is every prospect of this j undertaking becoming both a success and a benefit to the pubhc at large. ' The capital of £5000 will be allocated in shares of £5 each. Ten shillings per share will be payable on allocation, the balance will be called up in calls not exceeding £1 per share each call, and at intervals of not lesss than one month. Applications for Shares may be made to any of the members oi Provincial Committee or the Secretary. CLYDE BAKERY, HARRISVILLE, CHEAP BREAD FOR INVERCARGILL. HHHOS.
