Consolation Handicap, 20 soys. One mile and quarter. Entry, £1. : For all beaten horses. RULES AND REGULATIONS. Rules of Otago Jockey Club strictly adhered to. Mares and Geldings allowed 31bs. No entry will be received for any of the above races except on this condition :,— That all disputes, claims, and objections, arising out of the racing shall be decided by the Stewards or whom they may appoint. No person shall be allowed to run a horse unless the latter be qualified as the bona fide property of a subscriber of two sovereigns to the race fund. All entries to be sealed and addressed to the Stewards, at Colyer's Hotel, on or before 6th February, entry money enclosed, with name, age, and pedigree of the horse, name of the owner, and colors of the rider. Any jockey not riding in colors entered will be fined two sovereigns. All dogs found on the course will be destroyed, without respect to ownership. Entries for the Invercargill Handicap must be made at Colyer's Hotel, on or before Ist February. Three horses to start for each race, or tha public money will not be added. ALEX. THE following BLOCKS of LAND, chiefly Agricultural, will be offered for Sale by the Provincial Government : — 1- A Block at or near the entrance to the 40---mile Bush, comprising about 5,000 acres. 2. A Block of 1200 acres at Table Cape. 3. Surburban Allotments at the Ngaruroro Bridge. 4. 500 acres of Agricultural Land at Waikare. 5. 800 acres of Rural Land at the Wairoa. 6. 400 acres of Bush Land at the Pohui. 7. Block' containing 1905 acres of rich Agricultural Land, Bituated on the main line of road and in the centre of the Ahuriri Plains, distant about 2 miles south of the Town of Havelock, and about 16 miles from the Town of Napier. This Block is admirably adapted for agricultural purposes. 8. 4500 acres of .good Grazing Land at Waikart. The size of the several allotments in each of the Blocks specified, from 1 to 6, and date of sale, will be duly notified in the Provincial Government Gazette.
