LONDON WOOL REPORT.

Messrs. Daxgety RiTTBAY and Co., report uuder date, London, 24th Nov. 1866. The fourth series of public sales of colonial wool commenced on 15th inst. The quantities declared and catalogued up to this evening are —

Total arrivals, 62,799 of which 3 i,8 16 sold to 21th iiish . The quantity of Australian wool is unusually fttviall ami the assortment not particularly good. Weil bred and well st&p'led has realised rates fully equal to those current in Si pt--mber excepting gi-o ay wool which generally speaking has hardly maintained them. Ordinary and second r»te clips also brought September prices at the commencement, but fin- tuese the competition has become more languid. New South Wales and Queensland washed wools havtf sold well and in some instances hare realized a slight advance. Victoria maintains the quotations of last series. Tasmania has also fully maintained its value. New Zealand of good quality and staple, both washed and in the grease is firm at former quotations. South Australian is in small supply and has not come under our notice. There is a quieter tone in the home trade than for some months past, and the unusually large quantity of Cape wool has somewhat affected other sorts, as perhaps also a decline on English wool, while foreign competition as usual at this period is limned. From the amount of Victorian wool already catalogued it will be seen that a considorable quantity had been held over while some addition has been made of second hand wool. The interval that must elapse before the first Sales in 1867 can be held will ensure the consumption of the present stock of Australian wool and with the exception of the high price of food we know of nothing to operate prejudicially upon the coming clip. The money market is easy and rate of interest moderate.

Bales. Bales. Australian, 6936 4508 Victorian. 4931 5345 Tasmanian, 1029 352 South Australian, 2231 1735 New Zealand, 3970 1735 Cape Colony, 43,702 21,1 f I
