The Southland Times. FRIDAY, JANUARY 4, 1867.
In order to make room for a full report of the meeting at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday evening, we are compelled to hold over leading, local and other matter. We would remind our readers that the Stamp Act is in operation. No cheque or receipt is valid unless a stamp is upon it before it is signed. We hear that great inconvenience is being experienced from a scarcity of stamps.
