"VTOTICE is hereby given that an appHcation has been made by Eranz Scherff, of the City of Auckland, merchant, in accordance with terms of " The Patents Act, 1860," for the issue to him of Letters Patent for tho exclusive use within the Colony of New Zealand of his invention of an improvement in the arrangement or construction of machinery for the purpose of cleansing and preparing the leaves of New Zealand Flax (Phormium Tenax) and similar plants, and any person or persons who may wish to prefer any objection to the granting of such Letters Patent are hereby required to send, within four months from the publication hereof, to C. Knight, Esq., of Wellington, M.D., being the person appointed for that purpose under the provisions of the said Patents Act, a state, ment in writing, setting forth the grounds of such objection, subscribed with his or their proper name and address.
