REST DENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

(Before W. H. Pearson, Esq., J.P.) MONDAY, Ist OCTOBER.

A settler was fined 30a and coats, Ss 6d, for allowing six horspt. to stray in the public streets. The Magi. strate explained to the defendant, in, answer to his application for a minimum penalty, that the Cattle- Trespass Ordinance of last session fixed the lowest penalty at 5s for each head of cattle found straying.

WEDNESDAY, Bbd OCTOBER.

(Before H. M'Culloch, Esq., R.M.) One inebriate was fined 10s, with tho alternative of 2_ hours' imprisonment, with hard labor.

THURSDAY 4th OCTOBER.

The only business before the Court consisted of one case of drunkenness, in which the offender was fined 10s, or 24 hours' imprisonment, with hard labor.
