The annual Dramatic College fete opened on Saturday, July 2, at the Crystal Palace, and attracted a crowded and brilliant audience. The attendance on Saturday, which was the high price day, reached 22,708. The revels were kept up with spirit till a late hour, and at nightfall the palace was brilliantly illuminated. The fair was continued and concluded on July 9. It is stated that Sir" E-oundell Palmer, the late Attorney- General, regularly takes a class in the Sunday-school of the church which he attends in Langhamplace, London. On July 6 the new duties on licenses to let horses or carriages on hire came into force. The annual duty on . one horse or carriage is £5, and a scale is given in the new act (29th Vie. c. 36) up to £70. I The accounts of the state of the crops I from all parts of the Irish provinces are (says a Dublin correspondent) most promising. There is a much larged breadth than has been the case of late years under the patato, and the appearance of the fields ia excellent. The hay crop is being rapidly and successfully saved. The cereals also are unusnally rich and strong. Out of 53 reports of cattle disease sent to the Irish Government within the last few days from various districts not one has proved a fresh case of rinderpest, and the alarm which was created afresh by the recent appearance of the plague in the county of Meuth is passing away. A. supplementary estimate of the sums required to provide for the estimated excess of the army "expenditure for the year ending 31st March, 1867, beyond the ordinary grants for the year 1866-67, for the conversion of muzzle-loading small arms into breech-loaders, has just been laid on the table of the House of commons. The Eoyal Laboratory and small arms establishment will require £140,000 ; and under the head of warlike stores &c, £105,000 is charged; making a total of £245,000.
