ADIEU!
Scotland, fare thee well, I leave tbea Leave thee yet with sad regret, Years may pass ere 'gain I see thee, Tet I never can forget. Never can forget thy mountains, ' Lofty, proud, majestic, grand ! For thro'out thy Purple Highlands like proud sentinels they stand. Never can forget thy rivers, Rolling, rushing, foaming, free, Dashing thro' thy lofty mountains, All defiant seem to be. And the lakes so calm and peaceful) Leaving thee I feel regret, For their soft commanding language, Seem to bid me " ne'er forget." But above all other objects 'Tis thy people stern and cold, Stedfast, true, and noble-minded, That my heart in bondage hold. Leaving these regret is nothing, 'Tis a sorrow deep and true, Yes, dear friends, 'tis painful anguish That I feel on leaving you. Leaving some perhaps for ever, How my heart regrets the thought, Friendship in a world so changing Is with countless sorrow fraught. But brightly let ns meet the morrow With a holy happy song ; Fight the fight of life most bravely, Learn to suffer and be strong. Daisy. *
