Sergeant Morton reports that the population on the Oiepuki Diggings is still about two hundred and fifty miners, that is to say, one hundred and fifty on the beach, and one hundred in the bush. The miners on the beach are making the best wages. They are making from £6 to £15 per man per week, when they make a full week's work.
