From any part of New Zealand to any other part of New Zealand : — Not exceeding J- o** 2d. Exceeding £ oz. and not exceeding 1 oz. 4d. loz., „ 2oz. Bd. And so on, increasing fourpence for every additional ounce" or fraction of an ounce. 2. — To the United Kingdom. By Southampton or by direct ship — Not-exceeding _■ oz 6d. Exceeding oz., and not exceeding 1 oz. s. loz., „ 2oz. 2s. And so on, increasing one shilling for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. By MarseUles — Not exceeding £ oz. in weight lOd. Letters will be forwarded vid Alexandria and Jaffa (unless marked for transmission via the United Kingdom), and wUI be charged as follows : — Not exceeding _■ oz lOd. Exceeding -£oz. andnotexceedingloz., Is. lid. And so on, increasing one shiUing and tenpence for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 7. — To China and the Eastebn Aechepelago. Letters addressed to Kongkong, Penang, Singapore, and any part of China, or Japan, the PhUlipin Islands, Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Labuan, the Moluccas, and Siam, are chargeable as follows : — » Not exceeding _■ oz Is. Exceeding _• oz., and not exceeding loz 2s. And so on, increasing two shiUings for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 8. — To Naval Officers on Fobeign Stations Letters addressed to Officers serving on board any of Her Majesty's ships on a foreign station, when sent through the United States, are chargeable as foUows : — Not exceeding _■ oz Is. Exceeding _■ oz., and not exceeding 1 oz. 2s. „ 1 oz. „ 2 oz. 4s. And so on, increasing two shillings for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 9. — To Naval Seamen and Soldiers. Letters sent to or by Seamen and Soldiers Her Majesty's Service wiU be transmitted within the colony, and between the colony and any postoffice in the British dominions, at a charge of one penny, provided that the foUowing regulations are observed : — 1. Each letter must not exceed half an ounce in weight. 2. It must be superscribed with the name of the writer, liis description or class in the vessel or regiment, and signed by the officer at the time in command. 3. The postage must be prepaid. Every letter of this description posted or received in this colony, not in accordance with the foregoing regulations, wiU be treated as an ordinary letter. The postage upon these letters must iv aU casebe paid in advance. Free Letters. Letters on the pubUc service of Her MajestyT-] naval and mUitary forces are exempted from the payment of postage, if bearing the words '' On Her Majesty' 8 Service," and the signature of the officer hi command of the force on the service of which the letter is despatched. But such letters cannot be transmitted by any irregular route, or one entailing additional expense on the Colonial Government. Letters on the public service of the General Government of the Colony are transmitted free by post, if bearing the words "On the pubhc service only," and the signature of some officer of the General Government authorised to frank letters. 11. — Registered Lettebs. Registration Fee Is. In addition to the ordinary postage chargeable on any Letter — except in special cases. Newspapebs. 1. To any part of the Colony, if published in the Colony Free. 2. To the United King-Join, via Southampton, or by direct ship .... Free To the United Kingdom, vid MarseUles, each .^ 3d. 3. To the Continent of Europe, vid Trieste, each... ... ... ... 2d. 4. To Syria and Turkey (not through the United Kingdom) not exceeding two ounces Id. And so on, at the rate of one penny for every additional two ounces. Book Packets. 1. To any part of the Colony, the Australian Colonies, or to the United Kingdom vid Southampton. Not exceeding 4 oz. ... 4d« Exceeding 4 oz., and not exceeding 8 oz. Bd. „ Boz. „ 16 oz. Is4d. And so on, increasing eight pence for every additional half-pound, or fraction of haK-a--pound. 2. The foUowing British Colonies : — Ascension, lonian Islands Bermuda, Natal British West Indies New Brunswick - Canada, Newfoundland, Cape of Good Hope, Nova Scotia, Falkland Islands, Prince Edward Island Gambia, St. Helena Gold Coast, Sierraj Leone, HeUgoland, Vancouver's Island.
