Sib, — I can only tell " Scruti ay" that Daniel O' Connell, the great 3 "Irish agitator, boasted of being able to- drive a carriage and four through amy of the laws made by the British Parliament— and we find that after years o f thoug ht and trouble, the Victorian land law is not above being evaded — and the people of Southland possibly may evade ti he dog tax — and yet the framers of it ne ed not be ashamed of it.
