Lay off the Grey Eiver for two hours, and arrived at kelson at fifty minute? past eight a.m. on the 12th ; left at half-past eight a.m. on the 13th ; encountered strong S.E. winds to Wellington, arriving there at five minutes past eight p.m. on the same day ; left at a quarter past nine pm. on the 14th, j and arrived at Lyttelton at forty -five minutes past j eleven a m. on the 15th ; left at half-past five p.m. ; on the 16th ; experienced strong S.E. winds, with j dense fogs, the whole passage to Port Chalmer9 Heads, owing to which Captain Kidney was j obliged to steam dead slow for several hours ; ar- i rived in Port Chalmers at ten a.ro. on the 17th, and left at eight p.m. on the 20th, thus- giving ample opportunity to reply to the English letters received per South Australian ; arrived at Bluff Harbor at nine a.m. on the 21st ; discharged cargo, received English mails and passengers, and left at a quarter past twelve p.m. on the same 1 day. ~Fot the first twenty-four hours experienced strong S.E. winds, and afterwards moderate W.ISf.W. winds uutil inside the Straits, when strong ~N.W. winds, with a heavy sea, were encountered. Passed through PortPhillipHeads at half pastfour p.m . on th c 2oth,thusmaking the extraordinary quick run of four days seventeen hours from Otago to Melbourne. The s.s. Eangitoto left Bluff Harbor in company with the Albion, and arrived sixeteen hours after her. — " Argus."
