From any part of New Zealand to any other part of New Zealand : — Not exceeding i oz SL Exceeding § oz. and not exceeding 1 oz. $L „ loz., „ 2oz. m. And so on, increasing fourpence for every addi tional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 2. — To the United Kingdom. By Southampton or by direct ship — Not exceeding i oz 6d. Exceeding £ oz., and not exceeding 1 oz. ls. „ loz., „ 2oz. 2s. And so on, increasing one shilling for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. By MarseiUes — Not exceeding £ oz. in weight... lOd. Exceeding \ oz., and not exceeding 1 oz., ls. Bd. „ 1 oz. „ 2 oz., 3s. 4d. „ 2oz. 30z., 6s. 8d Every ounce after the first Is. 5. T o THE CONTINENT OF EUBOPE via TBIESTE Not exceeding £ oz Is. Exceeding £ oz., and not exceeding 2s. „ 1 oz., And so on, increasing two shillings for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 6. — To Sybia and Turkey. Letters wUI be forwarded vid Alexandria and Jaffa (unless marked for transmission via the United Kingdom), and wUI be charged as follows : — Not exceeding £ oz • 10d. Exceeding andnotexceedingloz., ls. lid. And so on, increasing one shilling and tenpence for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 7.— To China and the Eastebn Abchepelago. Letters addressed to Kongkong, Penang, Singal pore, and any part of China, or Japan, the PhUUpin Islands, Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Labuan, the Moluccas, and Siam, are chargeable as follows : — Not exceeding £ oz Is. Exceeding i oz., and not exceeding loz 2s. And so on, increasing two shillings for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 8. — To Naval Officebs on Fobeign Stations Letters addressed to Officers serving on board any of Her Majesty's ships on a foreign station, when sent through the United States, are chargeable as foUows : — Not exceeding £ oz Is. Exceeding § oz., and not exceeding 1 oz. 2s. „ 1 oz. „ 2 oz. 4s. And so on, increasing two shilhngs for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 9. — To Naval Seamen and Soldiebs. Letters sent to or by Seamen and Soldiers Her Majesty's Service wiU be transmitted within the colony, and between the colony and any postoffice in the British dominions, at a charge of ONE penny, provided that the foUowing regulations are observed : — 1. Each letter must not exceed half an ounce in weight. 2. It must be superscribed with the name of the writer, his description or class in the vessel or regiment, and signed by the officer at the time in command. 3. The postage must be prepaid. Every letter of this description posted or received in this colony, not in accordance with the foregoing regulations, wUI be treated as an ordinary letter. The postage upon these letters must iv all cases be paid in advance. Fbee Lettebs. Letters on the pubhc service of Her Maje sty naval and mUitary forces are exempted from the payment of postage, if bearing the words " On Her Majesty's Service," and the signature of the officer in command of the force on the service of which the letter is despatched. But such letters cannot be transmitted by any irregular route, or one entailing additional expense on the Coloniai Government. Letters on the pubhc service of the General Government of the Colony are transmitted free by post, if bearing the words "On the pubhc service only," and the signature of some officer of the General Government authorised to frank letters. 11. — REGISTEBED LETTEBS. Registration Fee I - In addition to the ordinary postage chargeable on any Letter — except in special cases. Newspapebs. 1. To any part ofthe Colony, if published in the Colony >.. Free. 2. To the United Kingdom, via Southampton, or by direct ship ... Free To the United Kingdom, via MarseiUes, each ... 3d. 3. 2?o the Continent of Europe, vid Trieste, each 2d. 4. To Syria and Turkey (not through the United Kingdom) not exceeding two ounces Id. And so on, at the rate of one penny for every additional two ounces. Book Packets. 1. To any part of tbe Colony, the AustraUan Colonies, or to the United Kingdom vid Southampton. Not exceeding 4 oz 4d. Exceeding 4 oz., and not exceeding 8 oz. 8d; „ Boz. „ 16 oz. Is4d. And so on, increasing eight pence lor every additional half-pound, or fraction of half-a-pound. 2. The foUowing British Colonies : — Ascension, lonian Islands Bermuda, Natal British West Indies New Brunswick Canada, Newfoundland, Cape of Good Hope, Nova Scotia, Falkland Islands, Prince Edward Island Gambia, St. Helena Gold Coast; Sierra Leone, HeUgoland, Vancouver's Island.
