DUNEDIN LITE STOCK MARKET.

Friday, 20th July. Dutteb, Mi.ci.3Li2f and Co. report : — The past month's transactions do not show any change in prices lately quoted. Holders of unstoeked country do not seem over anxious to purchase, but are rather inclined to "wait the result of the stock market after shearing ; while sellers appear confident that they -will not suffer by the delay, consequently a very general feeling of conscience exists, that fair prices will be maintained. For our own part we anticipate a slight reduction in most descriptions of stock, after shearing, but that the Talue of good station properties will be f ally maintained. It is at present impossible to tell what effect the crisis in the Home money market may have upon our pastoral inte* ests, but we are led to believe that we shall not directly suffer by it, unless the panic should continue to an extent that can scarcely be anticipated. Our sales during the month realised prices as quoted below : — Fat Stock. — The market has been fairly supplied with both beef and mutton. Stocks are not larger, and prices for good quality have an upward tendency. "We quote the best quality beef at about 47s 6d per lOOlbs, do do mutton, at 4£d to 4fd per lb. Store Stock. — Very few sheep of any class are offering, consequently sales have been limited. Several lots of cattle have changed hands at quoted prices. A good demand continues fer well-bred herds in fair condition. "We quote, 24, and 6-tooth ewes in lamb, at 21s to 225 ; fulldo, at 14s to 15s ; lambs (equal sexes), at 12s to 13s ; wethers. 4, 6, and 8-tooth at 13s 6d to 13s. Cattle.— Mixed ages and sexes, at £7 10s to £8 10s ; bullocks, 2 years and upwards, £9 10s to £10 10s. : Stations. — We have for sale by private contract several very valuable properties, at fair market value. Buyers are holding off with the expectation of several runs ceming into market for positive sale, after shearing ; but we think they will be disappointed if they look for any reduction in valne. Country Sales. — "We beg to call attention to our sale of well-bred cattle at the West Taieri Peund on 27 £h inst. Wool — The only wools coming forward are fellmongers' parcels, which are shipped on owners' account, no sales transpiring. The telegrams to hand by the mail from Europe, just arrived, are full of momentous importance to the wool-grower ; but there is, in the midst of one of the most severe panics ever recorded, the gratifying intelligence that the May sales opened on the 10th of that month, with a decline only of li to 2d per lb. 160,000 bales were offered, and cleared off — prices hardening to the close of the sales. Sheepskins have been in active demand at high rates during the month. ; but the decline in the price of wool, and uncertainty to what extent wool will fill, buyers wili be extremely cautious in purchasing. iiiucs — The demand has baen very slack, and only lie^vy, weli-cored, aud well-slaughtered parcels can be sold, excepting at very low rates ; and a farther decline in the London market- now advised will tend to make prices stxil lower. Tallow. — The local demand is greater than the supply, and aay description of firm tallow i» wt*rik £40 per ion.
