(to the editok oe the southland tikes.) Sib, — I beg to correct a statement that appeared in your able leader of the 11th. inst. It is there assumed that the wells sank for the supply of water for the Fire Brigade was constructed by the Town Board. Now, sir, such was not the case. Ail the Town Board had to do in the matter was in exercising the power vested in them, by not allowing the Brigade to sink any wells, unless the plans proposed for their construction met with their approval. Consequently the plan aud specifications were submitted to that august body, and met with their approval The wells were sank at the sole expense of the Brigade, and by money collected by the members from insurance offices, merchants, and others, the particulars S of which appeared ia a former balancesheet of the Brigade.
