NOTICE TO CORRESPONDENTS.
A letter, signed " Policeman," cannot be inserte d. It is usual to forward such communications to Mr Commissioner Weldon. We are unable to state whether a sum is to be placed on the estimates to enlarge the old gaol for the accommodation of the police force or not. We should imagine that the present constabulary barracks are amply sufficient for the limited numbers of the force in Southland. We cannot see what the late escape of a prisoner has to do with the subject on wbidi " Policeman " writes.
