BY ELE CTRI GTELE GRAPH. «. SOUTHLAND. Bltjff, 9th July, Arrived — The Alhambra, from Melbourne ; "William Miskin, from Dunedin. The Alhanibra, owing to the accident which Captain M'Lean met with on his last trip, was on this voyage commanded by Mr M'Eachern. She left Melbourne on the 2nd inst. : experienced fearful gales with thick weather to Solonder's. The between-deck fittings gave way: thirty horses out of thirty-three were killed, and the remaining three seriously injured. No files of papers have been brought. Trade is reported quiet : Adelaide flour, £17 10s ; California barley, 5s ; rice, firm at £27 per ton ; oats, looking up ; maize, scarce ; geneva has slightly advanced ; Whitehead's stout is reduced to £7. Mr Valentine, late of Sandhurst, has been appointed manager of the Commercial Bank. Sailed — William Miskin, for Hokitika Alhambra, for Dunedin.
