The Southland Times. THURSDAY, JULY 5, 1866.

The drawiug-room entertainment to be Held at the Theatre Koyal this evening, -we believe, will be a complete success. Several gentleman of known ability and standing have offered to render assistance ; a band of the unusual number of five will play during the evening some of the best pro. ductions of great compcsers. There is to be an opening address written by a well-known gentleman ; readings from Dictens and others ; songs* and a variety of amusements. Ihe theatre has been so arranged, that ths drawing-room enter, tainment wQI be a reality. Kefreshment (coffee) will be supplied, and all other descriptions ob. tamable. We understand that Mr. Flint has offered his services to convey ladies and gentlemen to and from the theatre for the evening. This being the first of a series of entertainments intended to supplement the funds of our benevolent institutions, it is be hoped that it will meet ■with general support. A meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday. The business was unimportant. ■' A letter was read from Mr Jones, of the Southland Club, offering a room in the hotel for the ÜBO of members of the Chamber of Commerce - The matter was discussed, but its further consideration was left open till the next general j meeting, to be held next month.
