The following W8 take from the Argus of the 14th June : — With regard to the capabilities of the coal from Wanganui, N.Z., for generating steam, and of which trial was made a few days ago in the Williamstown steamer Kangaroo, it may be stated that the quantity of coal used in the one day's trial was slightly under the usual consumption of Newcastle (N.S.W.) coal in a similar period, fiz., thirty-five hundred weight The engineer of the Kangaroo, however, gives a decided preference to the New Zealand coal.
