The Railway Stations platform are to be removed from the original site to the extreme cud of the line, or near to the present Telegraph Office. The fouudatiqn that has been put down will hare to be taken up, and removed to the new site, where all the buildings are intended to be under one roof. A plan, that will materially lessen the expense of construction, also gives a much better foundation for building upon than the old site, on the whole, the advantages to be gained, are decidedly in favor of the removal. The P.N.Z. and A.R.M. Company. — Oapt. Benson, the Colonial Manager of the. P.Z.N and A.R.M. Company, has arrived by the Tararua. He is accompanied by Mrs Benson and family, "who intend taking up their residence permanently in Wellington. Captain Benson has had- very considerable experience in steam navigation, having for a number of years been in command of some of the largest steamers in the •world. We beleive it is his intention, iv accordance with the instructions of the directors, to make Wellington the head-quaters of the P.N.Z. and A.E..M* Company, their steamers being able to radiate from this harbor with greater facility than any other in the colony, and consequently to perform their work wtth greater economy in the consumption of fuel. It is intended to burn "Welsh coal in the Panama steamers. Arrangements have been made for an ample supply to ba always on hand in this port. This will nesssitate the employment of a considerable number of vesels to be constantly running between the mother country and Wellington, thus increase the shipping interest of this port. The European i£ being fitted up as a store ship, and will shortly arrive from Sydney, when she will be set apart for that purpose. The Kaikora will not arrive on the Bth June, as anticipated, as her date of Bailing from Sydney has been altered to the 15th, so as to admit of a fortnightly English mail with that place. She will leave Wellington for Panama on the 23rd. — Wellington Indipendant, Bth May. The Brigantine, Despatch, Captain Eeenan, left Hokitika on the 26th ult., experienced light winds and calms the greatest part of the passage : arrived outside the heads, and anchored for the night, on the 30th ult., she arrived at the Bluff on the 31st of May, from whence is going with (Dalgety & Rattrey) contractors, railway plant for Dunedin. I The Tararua, s.s., Captain Ferguson, after dis- \ charging her oargo about 15 tons, sailed for Melbourne at 11 a.m., on the 31st of May. This trip of the Tararua is the last under the present contract. The English mails via Melbourne, will be carried by the O.S.N.
