The schooner Aparima anchored at the heads on Saturday night ; she sailed from New Kiver with a hght westerly wind, and when beating out of the New River heads, her voyage to Stewart's Island was almost brought to a termination. Notwithstanding the positive assurance of the pilot and harbor master (both on board the schooner) that there was plenty of water, she suddenly came bump on the ground, causing the passengers that were on deck to stand to one side, expecting the masts to fall. The helm was put down, and had the schooner not been quick in stays, she would have now been a wreck at New Biver heads. When half across the straits the wind increased to a gale, and the captain bore up for the Bluff. This taste of bad weather will have the effect of making many of her passengers return to InTercargill without seeing the wreck of the Zephyr. The P.Z. Company's s.s. Phoebe sailed for Dunedin from the wharf at 3 p.m., with strong westerly wind.
