Exceeding £oz. andnotexceedingloz., Is. lid. * And so on, increasing one shilling and tenpence for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 7. — To China and the Easteen Abchepelago. Letters addressed to Kongkong, Penang, Singapore, and any part of China, or Japan, the PhUUpin Islands, Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Labuan, the Moluccas, and Siam, are chargeable as follows : — Not exceeding i oz ls. Exceeding £ oz., and not exceeding loz 2s. And so on, increasing two shillings for every" additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 8. — To Natal Opficebs on Fobeign Stations Letters addressed to Officers serving on board any of Her Majesty's ships on a foreign when sent through the United States, are chargeable as foUows : — Not exceeding § oz ls. Exceeding i oz., and not exceeding 1 oz. 2s. „ 1 oz. „ " 2 oz. 4s. And so on, increasing two shillings for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 9. — To Natal Seamen and Soldiebs. Letters sent to or by Seamen and Soldiers Her Majesty's Service wUI be transmitted within 1 the colony, and between the colony and any postoffice in the British dominions, at a charge of ONE PENNY, provided that the foUowing regulations are observed : — j 1. Each letter must not exceed half an in weight. 2. It must be superscribed with the name the writer, his description or class in the vessel or regiment, and signed by the officer at the time in command. 3. The postage must be prepaid. Every letter of this description posted or received in this colony, not in accordance with the foregoing regulations, wiU be treated as an ordinary letter. The postage upon these letters must iv all cases be paid in advance. Fbee Lettebs. Letters on the pubUc service of Her Majesty ' naval and miUtary forces are exempted from the payment of postage, if bearing the words "On Her Majesty 'B Service," and the signature of tho officer in command of the force on the service of which the letter is despatched. But such letters cannot be transmitted by any irregular route, or one entailing additional expense on the Colonial Government. Letters on the pubUc service of the General Government of the Colony are transmitted free by post, if bearing the words "On the pubUc service only," and the signature of some officer of the General Government authorised to frank letters. 11. — REGISTEBED LETTEBS.' Registration Fee ls. In addition to the ordinary postage chargeable on any Letter — except in special cases. ' Newspapebs. 1. To any part ofthe Colony,^ pubhshed in the Colony . ... Free. 2. To the United Kingdom, via Southampton, or by direct ship ... Free To tiie United Kingdom, via MarseiUes, each ... 3d. 3. To the Continent of Europe, vid Trieste, each ... 2d. 4. To Syria and Turkey (not through the United Kingdom) not exceeding two ounces ... ... ... ... Id. And so on, at^he rate of one penny for every additional two ounces. Book Packets. 1. To any part of the Colony, the AustraliaColonies, or to the United Kingdom vid Southampton. Not exceeding 4 oz. 4d. Exceeding 4 oz., and not exceeding 8 oz. Bd. „ 8 oz. „ 16 oz. Is4d. And so on, increasing eight pence fbr every additional half-pound, or fraction of half-a-pound. 2. The foUowing British Colonies : — Ascension, lonian Islands -Bermuda, Natal British West Indies New Brunswick Carfada, Newfoundland, Cape of Good Hope, Nova Scotia, Falkland Islands, Prince Edward Island Gambia, St. Helena Gold Coast, Sierra Leone, HeUgoland, Vancouver's Island. Not Exceeding 4 oz. ... - ... ... 7d. Exceeding 4 oz., and not exceeding 8 oz. ls 2d. „ Boz. „ „ 16 oz. 2»4d. Bankees' Pabobls. Containing only Bank Notes' Orders; BiUs and Promissory Notes, Cheques, Passbooks, or BankTleturns sent by or to any Bank, or Banker, within the Colony, (provided such parcels are ecurely closed and sealed, and c6ntain no letter or communication in the nature of a letter, and bear along with the address of such parcel, the words " Bankers' Parcel, without Letter," subscribed by the sender of such parcel, with his name ana address), sha Y 'be received as Book Packets, and shall'' be" transmitted within the colony, at the same rate as Book Packets.
