COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE.

SOTfTHXASD TIIEES Office, Wednesday Evening. Wednesday, 9th May. Stout, 202- gals £15 3 0 *

We are in receipt of the Daily Times to the sth of May. We clip the following items of commercial intelligence from the issues of the 4th and sth inst : — The weather is rery much against business, but there has, notwithstanding this drawback, been a fair amount of miscellaneous trade doing, chieQv, however, among second houses, importers being' for the moment comparatively quiet. Market prices have not varied sufficiently to call for any notice, nor have the prospects of any staple imports altered. The cartage difficulty being prospective!}' removed, country business will in all probability present some degree of activity for a short time to como. There are no sales of merchandise by auction taking place which call for any special remark."

A considerable amount of small trade is doing, and business wears a little livelier appearance, though we hear of no large transactions among importers, or of any operations, calling for special notice. It is generally understood that chere will be no further difficulty in the way of <i-jr patching goods for the interior, and in all probability the country trade will be again brisk ioi a time. There are no auction sales of importance taking place.
