It was rumored in town yesterday, that a wellknown Solicitor had been committed for trial at the nest criminal Sittings of the Supreme Court, at l)unedin, on a charge of perjury. A few days ago a little boy, 11 or 12 years *of age, having procured some bricks, constructed a trap for the purpose of catching larks. Some time aiterwards, having observed that the lid of the trap had fallen, he put his hand in to grasp what be supposed to be a lark, when an enormous rat, that had been captured, caught him by the little finger and bit it severely. Little notice appears to have been taken of the circumstance until a few days ago, when he was taken seriously ill, with every symptom of hydrophobia, or of persons afflicted with delirium tremens. At times the paroxysms have been so violent that the combined efforts of four men have been almost unable to keep him in bed, while he struggled hard to seize their hands or arms with his teeth, and at these times his cries have been dreadful to hear. Little hope is entertained of his recovery. Whether the rat was mad, or had eaten something poisonous, or what, it is impossible to determine. '
