Winter appears to have !&irly set in, for the last few days we have experienced a series of wind and rain squalls, with intense cold. Yesterday we observed several unoccupied houses', that had been seriously, damaged by the recent gales ; one of the large squares of glass in ; the front of the Southland, Times office was completely: blown in and several other buildings have suffered damage/ We would direct attention to the sale of the Shamrock Hotel and; stables, situated in Donstreet. The sale will take place at the Mart os the auctioneer,- William Todd, Dee-street, this day at 12 o'clock. Also, to the sale of cattle horses, pigs, &c., &c, at- Pelling's yards, Wallacetown, this day at 11 o'clock, by 0. A. Bos &Co.
