CROWN GRANTS.

Sib, — Can you tell me if any more Crown Grants are ever to come to Southland? The reason I ask this* question is : — Ist. When Crown grants come down from the North they are generally advertised ; now I have not seen an advertisement of the sort for. at least twelve months. 2nd. The Land Laws are so often changed that I for ODe would like to get my Crown Grant as soon as possible. 3rd. If Crown Grants are not to come down, why pay salaries to the \ clerk's. . . 4th. "What is the use of telling us that we are to get such a thing as Crown Grants if we are not to get them ? sth. I made an application for a Crown Grant four months since, and can get no word of it yet. 6th. I am told that I may consider myself lucky if I get it in fifteen or eighteen months. £ 7th. Is not that ridiculous when a mail goes- North at least once a month ; and Lastly, I will be very glad indeed when I see that these worthies in the Land Office are looking a little sharper after their work, I am yours &c, A Cockatoo Setler. . sth April, 1866.
