New Toeb:, 19th January. There is no decided change in the aspect of commercial affairs, though there is rather more firmness in smpathy with gold. Wheat, dull and nominal ; pork firmer; beef steady; groceries unchanged; whisky dull. Deputations from the National Wool Growers, and also from the Woollen Manufacturers' Association, are in New Tork, charged with the duty of conferring with each other to recommend modifications in our present tariff on wool and woollens. Eoreign exchange dull. A large supply of Southern Bills offered. These were quoted at 103-f. Leading dealers ask lOS-J to 109 for their bills on England at sixty days, but inferior sold at lOSil-. The importation of hides from foreign ports where tlie cattle plague exists, had been prohibited by the Government. The announcement has strengthened the market here for hides.
