" What's in a name " may be well asked on reading the following extract clipped from a recent notice of an amateur performance, appearing in a Nelson paper : — " The chorus 'Aldiborontiphoscoforniochrononhotonthologos' was so much liked that it cast a pleasing memory over the whole performance, and was most undeniably encored." Dr. Calcott, the author, as a musical composer, doubtless has many admirers, and our Nelson friends may have a peculiar aptitude for overcoming the difficulties of puzzling nomenclature ; but the " pleasing memory cast over the whole performance " seems somewhat mythical. At all events the individual attempting for the first time to recall to his memory the title of the chorus, immediately after opening his eyes in the morning, would berather an object of pity.
