March 20. — Per Albion, from Otago — Cabin : Mrs. Hoyt ; and six in the steerage. For Melbourne, Mr. Cook. March 20. — Per Airedale, from Dunedin — Cabin: Messrs Urayton, Smyth, Davis, Munro, Tucker, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Miss Clark; &nd five in the steerage. The 8.8. Airedale left Port Chalmers at 5 p.m. on the 19th inst., experienced fine weather down the coast, arriving at the wharf at 9 a.m. on the 20th. By tins vessel we have another larger consignment of goods for transhipment to Riverton. The s.s. Alhambra left Port Chalmers at 5 p.m. on the 17 th inst. Captain M'Lean reports fine weather with light E.S.S. wind on the passage here, arriving at the wharf at 8 a.m. on the 18th inst. There was sixty men landed from this x vessel from Dunedin for the railway works here. The R.M.S.S. Albion, Captain E. Kidney, left Port Chalmers, at 6 p.m. on the 18th inst., experienced fine weather on £he passage, arriving here at the wharf, at 7 a.m., on the 19th inst., after receiving the mails, cargo, and passengers, she sailed for Melbourne, at 9 a.m. This trip of the " Albion," terminates the present contract of the Otago Company, for carrying the English mails. The up service to Melbourne, and occasionally the down service, has been performed by the "Albion," under the command of Captain M'Laughlan, and latteriy Captain Kidney for the last eighteen months. And during the whole of that time, she has never once missed the outgoing mail steamer, but has, with one or two exceptions arrived in Melbourne, twelve and twenty-four hours before the P. & O. Company steamer Bailed, proving her to possess unequalled steaming powers. The Albion will be taken on the slip in Melbourne thia trip, for a thorough overhaul, to hull and machinery after which Bhe will take up her station on the line, observing punctually the same date of sailing' viz., on the 19th of every month, from Bluff Harbor Wharf. The South Australian, s.s., left Port Philip Heads at 4.40 p.m., on the 17th inst. Had light winds and fine 'weather. Arrived at the Bluff a". 8 a.m. on the 21st, when the engines were stopped and the ship hove-too till day-light ; arriving at the wharf at 7 a.m. on the 22nd. The Tararua, 5.8., arrived at the Pilot Station at 7.30 a.m., with the English Mails on board, which were put into the Pilot boat, and ehe then sailed for Dunedin, carrying on the cargo for this port.
