Erom the Nelson Examiner, we learn that " the Waimea election had resulted in the defeat of Mr. Saunders, the Superintendent of the Province, and the return of Mr. A. R. OUivier by a majority of 7. News from the Grey had been, received up to the 21st, when there was some excitement about the discovery of fresh ground to the north of that river." The great railway case, of Bruce and others v. the Queen, which involves an immense amount of money is not yet furnished. The Argus 2nd March, says : — " The trial at bar of Bruce and others v. the Queen yesterday reached its sixteenth weary day. The thirteenth of the thirty items of claim in contest 'was reached in the evidence for the defence. Probably two or three more daya will complete the evidence. If there be no rebutting case of any sort, the arguments on points of law will probably be gone into next week, and the pass be finished, early in the treefe Mowing," .
