IT is hereby notified that a Writ, issued for the Election of One Member of tne Provincial Council of the Province of Southland, for the District of Oreti, has been returned, with a certificate to the effect that Cuthbert Cowan, Esquire, has been duly elected. John P. Taylor, S i iperintendent. EFLES For the Conduct of Business in Departments of the Provincial Government of Southland. 1. Every subordinate Official will attend the Government Offices at 10 precisely. 2. On arrival he will enter his name in a book to be kept in the Office of the Clerk to the Superintendent. 3. Five minutes after 10 a.m. a line will be drawn across the page. Ail officers' names appearing underneath will be considered as neglecting their duty — conduct which will be noticed when the Estimates are under the consideration of the Government. 4. Prom 1 to half-past only will be allowed for luncn. During the day no officer will leave his office before 4 p.m. without permission from the head of his Department, or at any time during the day. 5. Disobedience to orders of the head of the Department will subject the Omcer to dismissal. 6. Heads of Departments will notice whether any infringement of the above rules takes place, and report p^terly to the etgYfJ^^
