Mr. Dillon Bell's meeting at the Theatre Koyal last evening was a large and influential one — the Theatre was filled. Dr. Menzies occupied the chair. Mr. Bell, who "was enthusiastically received in an able and lucid speech of nearly two hours duration, alluded to his past services rendered to Southland, and the success of his efforts to obtain for it increased representation, reviewed the proceedings of the last session of the General Assembly, and shadowed forth the probable policy of the ensuing one. At the conclusion a vote of confidence was passed by acclamation. We have a verbatim report, but owing to the late hour at which the meeting terminated, and the press of matter — Mr. "Wood's meeting, nomination &e — we find it utterly impossible to publ*'sh it in our present issue: but it will appear in our next.
