From any part of New Zealand to any othe part of New Zealand :— .Not exceeding i oz 2d. Exceeding £ oz. and not exceeding 1 oz. 4d. „ 1 oz., „ 2 oz. Bd. Letters will be forwarded vid Alexandria and Jaffa (unless marked for transmission vid the United Kingdom), and will be charged as follows : — Not exceeding £ oz lOd. Exceeding £oz. andnotexceedingloz., Is. lid. And so on, increasing one shilling and tenpence for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 7. — To China and the Eastern ArchePELAGO. Letters addressed to Kongkong, Penang, Singapore, and any part of China, or Japan, the Philnpin Islands, Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Labuan, the Moluccas, and Siam, are chargeable as follows : — Not exceeding i oz Is. Exceeding £ oz., and not exceeding loz 2s. And so on, increasing two shillings for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 8. — To Nayal Officers on Foreign Stations Letters addressed to Officers serving on board any of Her Majesty's ships on a foreign station, when sent through the United States, are chargeable as follows : — Not exceeding £ oz Is. Exceeding £ oz., and not exceeding 1 oz. 2b. „ 1 oz. „ 2 oz. 4s. And so on, increasing two shillings for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 9.— To Naval Seamen and Soldiers. Letters sent to or by Seamen and Soldiers Her Majesty's Service will be trarsmitted within the colony, and between the colony and any postoffice in the British dominions, at a charge of one penny, provided that the following regulations are observed : — 1. Each letter must not exceed half an ounce in weight. 2. It must be superscribed with the name the writer, his description or class in the vessel or regiment, and signed by the officer at the time in command. 3. The postage must be prepaid. Every letter of this description posted or received in this colony, not in accordance with the foregoing regulations, will be treated as an ordinary letter. The postage upon these letters must iu all cases be paid in advance. Free Lettehs. Letters on the public service of Her Majesty' naval and military forces are exempted from the payment of postage, if bearing the words " On Her Majesty's Service," and the signature of the officer in command of the force on the service of which the letter is despatched. But such letters cannot be transmitted by any irregular route, or one entailing additional expense on the Colonial Government. Letters on the public service of the General Government of the Colony are transmitted free by post, if bearing the words "On the public service only," and the signature of some oifieer of the General Government authorised to frank letters. 11. — Registered Letters. Containing only Bank Notes' Orders, Bills and Promissory Notes, 'Cheques, Passbooks, of Bank Returns sent by or to any Bank, or Banke,* within the Colony, (provided such parcels are ecurely closed and sealed, and contain no letter or communication in the nature of a letter, and bear along with the address of such parcel, the words "Bankers' Parcel, without Letter," sub* scribed by the sender of such parcel, with his name and address), sha ; be received as Book. Packets, and shall be transmitted within th«_ colony, at the same rate as Book Packets.
