THE RTVERTON ELECTION.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE SOUTHLAND TIMES. Sib, — I cannot believe but that the public read with disgust the annonymous and cowardly attacks on an unsuccessful candidate. The abusively personal letter signed "An Elector," which appeared in the Southland News, is so obviously the creation of private malice that it defeats its own ends. As the word " presumption " has been freely used by some of Mr. Marten's opponents, let me ask, who is the more presumptous, the man who comes boldly and expresses his views clearly and decidedly, or he who at the nomination tell, his constituents, "he has no formed opinions at all." — Tours truly, Anotheb Elector. Invercargill, March sth, 1866.
