FRANCE.
A disastrous lire has occurred at a factory. The loss is several millions of francs. Aleaxndre Bixio, ex-Minister of the Uepublic, died at Paris on December 16th. The marriage of Princess Anna Murat with, the Due de Mouehy, under Imperial auspices, was celebrated on the 18th December. A steamer drawing thirteen feet water entered themaritimecanalatPort Said. The contractors offer to transport goods through the canal, in May next, at 35f. per ton. M. Fonld's financial budget has been favorably received, owing to the reduction of the expenditure by thirty millions, thus distributed : — Minister of "War's department, fourteen millions ; Minister of Marine's seven millions ; in finance, six millions ; in public works and Emperor's household, three millions. The French floating debt is now 772 __Qlions. It was 808 millions on the Ist ol January last ; but, owing to 100 millions of reduction in Treasury Bills, and the augmentation of exports and imports tbe financial position is considered satisfactory. The policy of the Emperor declares strongly in favor of peace.
