TN pursuance of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled, " The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858," and also of an Act of the aforesaid General Assembly, intituled, "The Provincial Elections Act, 1858," I Chables Rotts Mabten, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Oreti, in the Province of Southland, do hereby give notice that, by virtue of a writ bearing date the 31st day of January, 1866, issued under the hand of His Honor the Superintendent of Southland, an ELECTION will be held for the return of a qualified person to serve as a MEMBER of the PROVINCIAL COUNCIL of the said Province of Southland ; and that the NOMINATION of CANDIDATES will take place at the Police Station, Lowtheb, on Tuesday, the 20th day of February, 1868, and that the Poll (if necessary) will take place on Wednesday, the 21st day of February, 1866.
