THE STEAMER " SOUTHLAND."

TO THE EDITOR OP THE SOTTTniAITD TIMES. Sir, — Can you inform me what the Government intend doing with the steamer " Southland," now lying alongside the jetty ? It is a disgrace to see a fine vessel brought out at immense expense, perfectly useless — eating its head off — when, by a little common prudence on the part of the authorities, it could be made a source of profit and advantage to the province. If this is the manner the affairs of the province are to be transacted, the sooner we are annexed to Otago, or a radical change takes place, the better for all parties here. — I am, Sir, your's, &c, Anti-Ceawlee. Invercargill, 13th Feb., 1866.
