(feoii oue ows cobbespojtdekt.) Great excitement exists here to-day, as it is the day appointed for the rifle shooting. The thing here is taken up in a most interesting manner. All the business places are entirely closed. The shooting commenced this morning at six o'clock, and Invercargill is already beaten ou of seven shots by two points. The score is given below : — Total Points. Aldred 6 Clapp 2 E. Wilson 16 Brown . . . . . 9 M'Donald 20 Meholson 14 M'Phee . - . . . .15 Eeid 16 Storie 19 Out of live shots at 300 yards. M'Donald, when we left the ground, had fired two shots at 400 yards, one a bull's eye, the other a centre ; scoring at that time 27 points, seven shots.
