The English Mail is due, but up to the time of going to press no tidings of its arrival had reached us. It may be expected to-day, but the glorious uncertainty, wliich is now the characteristic of P. and O. Company's steamers, renders it a doubtful hope. The following is the state of H. M. Gaol for the week ending Tue3dey, the 16th inst. Sentenced to penal servitude, 7 males ; sentenced to hard labor, 6 males, and 1 female. Lunatics, 5 males, and 1 female. Committed for trial, 2 males. On remand from R. M. Court, 1 male* Total, 21 males, and 2 females. Recoived during the week, 2 males, and 1 female. Increase for the -week, 2 males, and 1 female.
