THE PRESBYTERY OF SOUTHLAND.

The Presbytery of Southland met on Wednesday, the 10th inst. Present — Rev. Messrs. Stobo , Clark, Alexander, ministers ; and Messrs. Bethune and M'Phee, elders. It was unanimously agreed to overture the Synod to take steps towards ministerial supply for the West Coast Goldfields. The Moderator Teported that he had met with the congregation at Wallacetown, and that it had been unanimously resolved to request the Presbytery to moderate in a call in favor of the Rev. Andrew Stevens. Tue yearly financial statements of the various Deacon's Courts were called for, when it appeared that only one congregation had got such a statement prepared. The Su3tentation Fund within the bounds for the half-year ending December 31 was reported as follows : — lnvercargill, £91 ; Long Bush and Oteramika, £92 j Riverton, £50 16s. 3d. ; and Wallacetown, £109 Bs. It was agreed to take steps, with the concurrence of the Synod towards having Wallacetown declared a sanctioned charge, and to grant the petition of the Wallacetown congregation for sanction. The Moderator laid on the table a communication from Mr. M'Nab, offering an acre of ground for church purposes, near to Campbelltown. It was also resolved to take all competent steps towards securing a piece of ground of from two to five acres in extent, as a site for a manse for Wallacetown. The Presbytery having met in conference on the state of religion within the bounds, adjourned to meet at Wallacetown on Wednesday, the 4th April next, at noon.
