Large sums of money have been collected throughout India for the relief of the sufferers by J the late cyclone of Calcutta. Tho French Go- | vernmentat Pondichcrry, have sent a donation of B}ooof.8 } 000f. The Indo-European telegraph has been completed between Bombay and Teheran. The working of the line between the Russias cannot be relied on. The Russiau troops advanced into Central Asia, and a severe battle was fought in Kokan, 2,000 .Kokanese being taken prisoners, and 4,000 killed. The Russians set fire to eighteen towns, and captured the cities of Kumkeet and Seeruro s and have since advanced on Kokan City.
