Sik,— My friend "Practical" is evidently not one i who suiEFer3 .much .from the depressive character of the "times, or he •would scarcely now be a practical joker indulging in " flows of sweet water," &c, when the waters ' are very bitter to many desirous^ to work for the bread they require, and ; to get the wages for which they have worked. His statement that assumption and off-hand assertions are not confirmatory proof appears to me a sagacious comment on his own letter. He comes forward so' strongly as an advocate that his sense of the serious question involved; allows him even to address : the' editor tas .-'* your honor and gentlemen of the jury/' . Mid charity for such, zeal induces me to hope that He tibldß no barren hrief. "' ■' •'• Practical " i does not appear to consider that he rather committed himseli" at being present on theday he describes as;" All Fool's Day " when " Theorist " declined to : join such an association, and stayed at home. : ; - ; ; "Theorist " would recommend to " Practicals' " study the letter of ":Yeritas," as % lesson of; how any question involving the future of the Province should be treated, his doing so might induce him to aspire to treat so serious a subject in some better way thon as practical joker.
