OR IGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.
JTS DO NOT IDENTIFY OTTESELVES IN ANY "WAT WITH THE OPINIONS EXPRESSED BY OTJB COE- ' JBESPONDENTS.'. ? _ I'J.' j TO THEjEDITOEO^ THE SOUTHLAND .TIMES. ,', j Sib, — I observe with, surprise that in Mr. M'Nab's return of 'thanks after his election as member for Campbelltown, he expresses great satisfaction at his s access "in. the face of great and unexpected opposition, orgamsed and seconded by the aid and inihiencD 'of members of tlie Q-o---vernment." It must certainly hare tried, Mr. M'Nab's attachnient to, the existing, regime to find the Superintendent and Provincial Treasurer organising and seconding the opposition against so energetic a supporter. Still the remark alluded to, although it was made under -feelings of natural irritation, is to be regretted, as wanting that delicacy of feelirig and tone which Mr. M'JSTab's friends generally'attribute to what that gentleman either says, writes, or does. ' The Superintendent and. Provincial Treasurer in their individual character, as separate from the office they fill, ad interim, may have considered it beneficial to the interests. of the Province, that a man less notoriously identified with their personal interests of office should represent Cainpbelltown. Acting on this, and sacrificing interests to citizenship — Homanus civis sum — they organised and aeconded. Mr. M'JNab objects, as natural to human weaknese; but posterity will undoubtedly applaud conduct which, as citizens, was admirable, although as members of the Government, it could not but be cutting to a supporter. — I am, &c, A DISINTERESTED SPECTATOR. I 10th. November, 1864.
