The barque Escape has now been moored alongside the Jetty here, hnd is discharging cargo. The schooner Leonidas, we understand, has been chartered for Melbourne, vrith. a c» go oi B&vrn timber. THXHE vras a stiff breeze blowing on the river yesterday. The coasters Why Not and Amelia Francis were observed making for the wharf in the afternoon from Bluff Harbour. The Titania, which came into port, discharged and received cargo, and sailed again on Friday last, is not, as was currently reported, to be withdrawn from her present fine of trade between Dunedin and Invereargill. THE B.s. Wm. Hiskin arrived this evening from Invercargill with cargo and passengers, via BlufT Harbor, Waikava, Catlin's River, and the Molyneux. From Waikava *he brings a full cargo of tiTnteT-, c-oxtsigia^d. to Messrs. Cargill and Co. "Left Wail-ara. tlus inowoing at 0 a.m. Mr. Adams and his party (Government surveyors) proceeded in her to G'atlin's River, having finished laying out the township of Waisava. The Miskin then proceeded to the Molyneux. Arrived at 10 a.m., ■where Captain Godfrey had au interview with the signal master previous to her entering regularly m the Molyneux trade. She remained there two" hours and'left at noon. Arrived off Cape Saunders at 5 p.m., and Port Chalmers at 7 p.m., having performed the voyage from the Waikava, calling at two ports, including stoppage, a distance of over 110 miles, in the short space of 13 hours. Captain Hepburn complains much of the want of beacons to show the channel in Waikava harbor ; the Miskin was detained much for the want of them ; a few stakes placed on each side of the channel would be quite sufficient for the purpose. A person placed there as pilot to board vessels at the mouth of the harbor is positively necessary, as there will evidently be an increasing trade to this place. The Yarra, was | loaded and ready for sea, with a cargo of timber j for Christen urch.; and the Defian c, schooner, entering, the Waikava harbvr. At the Molyneux, the Lady Franklin alongside the wharf, and Flying Squirrel repairing. — Otago Daily Times, sth inst. ___^____
