WELLINGTON.
There is nothing of much importance to notice. The Neio Zealand Advertiser, of the -18th, says *. — ** The petition against the meeting of the Assembly at Wellington was to .be 'presented to the Premier at three o'clock, on the 13th inst. The circumstances ofthe s.s. Ahuriri -having been detained-by-tke Government for two days at Manukau, and no proclamation having been sent bj her relafcire to the meeting of the Assembly, proves that.the Government had not come to any decision on the subject prior to her departure :on the morning ofthe 13th inst. We have reason; to believe: that the proclamation was in the hands of the Governor , on the 12th inst., summoning the riieeting of the : . . General Assembly, forvthe despatch of business', at Wellington, .on the 15th November , next. ; " but : as the s.s. Wellington was expected on the 14th from Nelson, with the report of the Commissioners,; it was thought advisable, not to issue-. the proda-;: mation; nor to .finally decide -wher^-the; Assembly ;;■ should meet, until her arrival. If the report recommended Wellington: -as 'thp site fpr the, future capital, then the .Assembly would -be,] summoned to meet here at an yearly date;;r if ; „any. other place in Cook's Strait, then the ensuing session- will beheld at. Auckland." . 7 . - V ;;..:•*. » .
