TO THE ELECTORS OF INVERCARGILL. /GENTLEMEN, — At the time I consented to \JT become a Candidate for the Provincial Council at the ensuing election, I intimated to some of my requisjtionists that it was probable that I should have occasion to leave the Province for a short time on business, but at the same time T had reason to believe it would not be until after the first sitting of the new Council. Owing, however, to the delay which has occurred in receiving the writs, and to advices I have juat received from Tasmania, requesting my presence there' sooner than' I anticipated,- 1- shall, most likely, be absent during the election and the first session. '"' I do not expect to bo absent many j weeks, but as during that period questions of vital importance to the Province will probably be under discussion, I consider that not a single member should be- absent from his post, and am, there? 'fore, reluctantly compelled to retire from the field; - In taking this step I cannot- but express -my; deep regret that circumstances, should require "such a course, but in justice to myself and to' the Province at large, I feel bound to follow this .line of conduct. I : t i " >"' I am, Gentlemen, *-- . - j Your obedient Seivant, «4-65 0, B, WETOST,
